Manual result compilation

Overview

Results only help if someone can read them

Schools collect enormous amounts of performance data and then compile it by hand into documents nobody enjoys reading. ACE SPM turns each term's results into clear pictures: where a student is strong, where a subject is slipping, and how a cohort is moving over time.

Challenge

Result tracking spread across spreadsheets and paper, with teachers spending hours compiling what should be a click and parents receiving numbers without context.

Objectives

One record per student across subjects and terms. Clear dashboards for teachers, administrators and parents. No manual compilation at the end of term.

Discovery

We sat with how a term actually ends: what gets entered, who checks it, what goes home to parents, and where the hours disappear.

The solution

One platform, three audiences

Part 1

Student records

Every student, every subject, every term, in one place.

Part 2

Performance dashboards

Averages, bands and trends presented visually rather than as a table of numbers.

Part 3

Role based access

Administrators, teachers and parents each see the view that belongs to them.

Part 4

Term reporting

Reports produced by the system instead of assembled by hand.

Phase 1

Model

Subjects, terms and roles defined with the school.

Phase 2

Build

Records, dashboards and access control.

Phase 3

Load

Existing results migrated in.

Phase 4

Live

In use by teachers and parents.

Business outcome

Hours returned to teachers, clarity given to parents

Result compilation moved from manual work to a system task, and parents receive performance they can understand rather than a list of marks. The school has a record that improves every term instead of restarting each one.

What we carry forward: In education the user who matters most is often the least technical. Design for the parent reading on a phone at night and the teacher benefits too.
